Kirkwood Public Library is proud to announce a unique program. This Spring Coffee program, entitled “Jessie Tarbox Beals and the 1904 World’s Fair,” will feature Chautauqua scholar Dianne Moran portraying the pioneering female photojournalist in historically correct dress, along with presenting memorabilia from the 1904 World’s Fair which took place in St. Louis.

Jessie Tarbox Beals was a pioneer in her field, the first published female photojournalist and the first female night photographer. She broke gender barriers along the way to capturing some of the most iconic images of her or any time, including a number of freelance news photographs that came to define the 1904 World’s Fair, which put St. Louis on the world map for many.

The Library is proud to honor her legacy with this program, which will take place on Wednesday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
