Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows a patron to request items which are not owned by Kirkwood Public Library from libraries throughout the country. ILL is available to Kirkwood residents who hold a valid library card with less than $5.00 in fines/fees.
Interlibrary loan items may be requested through the Information Services Desk by visiting the library; calling 314-821-5770, ext. 1012; or Email. When requesting through one of these methods, it is best to have as much information as possible about the item you desire.
Requests can also be made through the FirstSearch database, a catalog of over 48 million items. Once you find the item you would like to request, click the ILL tab to fill out a request form.
After an online request has been placed, library staff will review the request and contact you. Please allow 1-3 weeks for processing.
The borrowing of items through interlibrary loan depends on which libraries are willing to lend, thus the service cannot be guaranteed. Interlibrary loan due dates are set by the owning library.
